Design Your Dream Bedroom

Assignment

In this project we will be using the math we learned this year to design our dream bedrooms.  There will be a budget and set number of square footage.  We will plan and design our own rooms, then figure out the total cost of our dream room. 

Agenda

Day 1: Seek inspiration, find websites, start tracking expenses
Day 2: Start collecting images and prices for  your room
Day 3: Finish up collecting images and prices
Day 4: Add up totals to see if within budget
Day 5: Sketch size of room / Find area and perimeter of room
Day 6:
Multiply decimals with flooring and paint
Day 7: Investors and fractions
Day 8: Spending trends and fractions
Day 9: Start to design and draw out you room
Day 10: Finish up your room

Math Concepts

-Area: Square footage, amount of paint, amount of flooring
-Perimeter: Amount of trim needed for the room and windows
-Decimals Addition: Totaling the costs of all materials
-Decimals Subtraction: Went over budget or return items
-Decimals Multiplication: Paint use, flooring, multiples
-Fractions Division: Investors amount contributed
-Fractions Add/Sub: How much certain investors together paid
-Place Value: Tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands
-Estimation: When first buying and thinking of budget 

-Geometry: Shapes within the room and shape of the room
